After terrorizing opponents throughout TUF 17, only to be upset by Kelvin Gastelum in the finals, Uriah Hall has his next assignment and it’s rugged vet Nick Ring. The UFC announced via Twitter that the bout will take place August 17, at the UFC on FOX Sports 1 card in Boston.
Hall (7-3) became the talk of the MMA world, and a favorite subject of Dana White, by recording several vicious KOs during TUF 17, including his now infamous spinning hook kick stoppage of Adam Cella. Hall followed that scary performance up with a one punch of Bubba McDaniels which broke the fighter’s face. Afte stopping Dylan Andrews in the semis, Hall came up short against Gastelum in the finals, however, and lost by split decision.
Although Ring (13-2) hasn’t showcased the stopping skills that Hall has, aside from an impressive submission win over James Head in 2011, the TUF 11 vet is one tough and durable middleweight. See Ring’s recent split decision loss to Chris Camozzi at UFC 158 as an example.
So, with today’s addition, UFC on FS 1 is starting to come together. Other fights that have been confirmed for the Boston card include Thiago Alves vs. Matt Brown, Travis Browne vs. Alistair Overeem and Joe Lauzon vs. Michael Johnson. The main event has yet to be announced.
