Tom Watson may only be 1-1 in the UFC, but he is brash enough to call out a legend in the sport. Today, Watson took to Twitter to challenge Wanderlei Silva to a fight even though the former PRIDE star has pretty much said he is going to finish out his career in the light-heavyweight division. Watson knows that this fight is not likely, because in a later Twitter post he stated, “I signed with @UFC to fight not to make friends. Will the UFC give me@wandfc?? Probably not. I don’t care.”

That sentiment is one that should ring true for most fighters, because in the UFC there are two ways you can get big fights: you either grind out wins like Johny Hendricks and Jon Fitch, or you can speak your mind, like Chael Sonnen, and talk your way into fights. Watson is just practicing the art of self-promotion,  but he may need a few more wins in his UFC career before calling out legends or top contenders.

He showed his true potential in his fight with Stanislav Nedkov at the last UFC on Fuel TV event, where he unleashes a tremendous combination (pictured above). That performance earned Watson a nice $100,000 paycheck, because it  gave him Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night bonuses. This came after his split decision loss to Brad Tavares in his debut. Plus, if Watson’s main purpose of calling out Silva was to gain himself some exposure he succeeded; multiple MMA websites have articles up about this exact call out. If you do not like how Watson conducts himself, he has a message for you, “haters stay home and beat it to your porn!”
