The people that run Zuffa (UFC), must never sleep, because they continue to announce fights even late into the night. Of course UFC 160 is already stacked with contenders and champions from the heavyweight and light heavyweight division and now they have added a potential number one contenders bout for the lightweight division. A fight between former top contender Gray Maynard and rising star TJ Grant has been set for the card. Also added to the card was a bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Abel Trujillo.
Grant was a good fighter in the welterweight division, but he really showed his talent when he dropped down to 155. So far at lightweight, Grant has gone an impressive 4-0. In that span, he has taken out notables Shane Roller, Evan Dunham, and Carlo Prater. In his last fight, he became only the second man to finish Matt Wiman when he destroyed the fellow lightweight contender with elbows. Maynard will be his toughest test to date, because he can take a punch and has the ability to take anyone down in the division.
Nurmagomedov has one of the longest win streaks currently active in MMA with 19 straight wins and no losses. He was impressive in his first two UFC fights when he took out WEC import Kamal Shalorus by submission and UFC veteran Glieson Tibau via decision. Nurmagomedov really turned heads when he finished another UFC veteran, Thiago Tavares, in under two minutes by knocking him out cold. Trujillo is a real fighter, because he had his opponent changed the day before a fight and still came out on top. Plus, he will not be afraid to stand with Nurmagomedov as he knows how to handle himself on the feet. UFC 160 is slowly growing into being one of the best fight cards of the year.
