Reports have surfaced from MMAJunkie.com that former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia, has signed a multi-fight contract with Strikeforce and is now set to face Heavyweight Grand Prix champ Daniel Cormier. The bout will reportedly take place on September 29th in Sacramento, California.
This signing comes as a surprise due to the fact that Sylvia has been very vocal about wanting to get back into the UFC, and that president Dana White has made no bones about not wanting him there. Even yesterday when asked about Sylvia being involved with Zuffa again, White answered with a resounding “That’s not true, no.”
Nevertheless, Sylvia is back with the promotion and will be fighting Cormier before his move to the UFC. The question now remains, what happens if Sylvia wins this fight, will he then move to the UFC as well?
Update: UFC President Dana White has reportedly posted on The Underground that the reports of Sylvia signing to Zuffa are untrue.
