It’s no secret that Nick Diaz doesn’t exactly run to a microphone when he sees one, as the enigmatic fighter has made headlines for missing press conferences and interviews in the past, and now Michael “The Voice” Schiavello is claiming he’s been no showed by the veteran.
According to the experienced broadcaster, Diaz was supposed to be interviewed for AXS TV’s “The Voice Versus” program on Monday. Schiavello tweeted on Sunday that he was flying to Stockton for the interview, but later on Monday he posted:
@nickdiaz209 has no showed The Voice Versus. Nick you have let your fans down again… And me a big fan in particular. Unprofessional mate.
Naturally, anyone who travels somewhere to conduct an interview, only to not have it happen, is going to be a wee bit annoyed. But is this surprising? Of course not. Diaz had not responded to Schiavello as of Tuesday AM.
Hopefully Diaz and his camp sort this out, as an extensive interview with the former Strikeforce champ would certainly make for some compelling stuff. More recently, it’s been reported that Diaz is looking to fight again, after announcing his fighting days might be over, following his unanimous decision loss to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 158 in March.
Not long ago it was reported that Diaz had been offered a bout by the UFC, however, it was later revealed that no fight is in the works. UFC President Dana White has, not surprisingly, said he’s hoping to get Diaz back in the Octagon.
