Teixeira Bloodies Maldonado into a TKO at UFC 153

The two Brazilians Glover Teixeira (19-2) and Fabio Maldonado (18-6) went to war at UFC 153 in front of their home country of Brazil. It didn’t take long for Teixeira to bloody the face of the former boxer as he came out landing bombs on his opponent and softening from the top mount with wide elbow drops.

It was a miracle in itself that Maldonado took the beating in the first round, but to almost earn the KO in the final seconds of the round with a left hook was simply bewildering to watch. The match came close to stopping in the second as the doc. requested to check Maldonado. After hearing the fighters pleads to keep it going, the ref. allowed it to finish the round. That would be the end however as the doctor waives it off between the rounds.

Official: Glover Teixeira defeats Fabio Maldonado via TKO (doctor stoppage)

Teixeira is now on an astounding 17 fight winstreak with most by knockout. It may be hard to find the heavy handed Brazilian but he has chosen to call out his original opponent that dropped out (due to injury), Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
