It looks as though the second UFC on FOX Sports 1 card has landed another compelling scrap, as according to reports, rising bantamweight Erik “El Goyito” Perez will take on Takeya Mizugaki at the August 28th event. MMA Weekly.com was the first to report the bout, and MMA Junkie.com has also confirmed the match-up.
Perez (13-4) has impressed since he arrived in the UFC, as the Jackson’s MMA fighter has won three straight by scoring wins over John Albert, Ken Stone (a 17 second KO) and most recently Byron Bloodworth. The 23 year-old was scheduled to fight Bryan Caraway at UFC 159, however, he was forced to withdraw due to a staph infection.
Mizugaki (17-7-2), meanwhile, is coming off a split decision win over the aforementioned Caraway, which went down at UFC on FUEL TV 8 in March. The rugged 29 year-old vet has gone 6-5 during his WEC and UFC run.
That’s a very promising fight. UFC on FS1 2 will be hosted by the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Martin Kampmann and Carlos Condit.
Some of the tilts scheduled for the event include Donald Cerrone vs. Rafael dos Anjos, Sarah Kaufman vs. Sara McMann, and Darren Elkins vs. Hatsu Hioki.
