Shields: Nick Diaz calming down and won’t retireFebruary 22, 2012 by Joe Rocha

Jake Shields comments on ‘Scrap Pack’ partner and friend Nick Diaz’ recent comments of retirement from mixed martial arts following a controversial decision loss to Carlos Condit.

He’s calmed down, I think he’s gonna fight again” said Shields. “He’s been a little burned out. They’ve been fighting him like crazy, keeping him busy. I think he needs a little break. Unfortunately he’ll probably be suspended for a little while but I think the time off will make him love the sport again and make him wanna get back in there.”

Shields is poised to take on Yoshihiro Akiyama this Saturday at UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson in Saitama, Japan. Check here for out UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson Results and play-by-play as we will be updating live as the fights take place.
