The world needs people like Sage Northcutt, if for no other reason than to remind us what it means to be innocent and carefree.
That said, the kid was thrust into the UFC as a future star, managed to shine a little bit, and has been as of late getting chewed up and spit out by the most inexperienced of fighters. It’s hard to not feel both a smidgen of satisfaction and smidgen of compassion for the poor soul, because now he’s an overpaid star who’s destined to keep getting his ass kicked until the paychecks run out. But whatever. That’s for Northcutt to deal with…
…and apparently he’s going to deal with it by moving back down to lightweight.
I mean, if that helps, sure, go for it, Sage. Just make sure you learn some grappling, too…
“You know, obviously, anytime you lose you learn from it,” he said on Monday. “Not that you regret it but it’s a learning experience, and I’ll be back down at 155 now. I’m a natural 155er. So, that’ll be a good weight class for me.”
… “For now I’m at 155,” he told Ariel Helwani. “In the future obviously I’m still growing, who knows, it could be years in the future, but I’m still putting on muscle, still getting taller and bigger, and still growing. I guess we’ll see, but right now 155.”
