There’s been a lot of talk going into Saturday’s UFC on FOX 18 that main event fighter Ryan Bader could earn a shot at the light-heavyweight title with a win. That’s a tall order, given that his opponent is ace face-puncher Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, and Bader tends to sleep when punched in the face, but whatever. If he gets past Rumble, he definitely deserves a crack at the belt.
Bader doesn’t share those sentiments, though.
He thinks a title shot could come with either a win or a loss.
“The way I look at it, win or lose I could get a title shot,” said Bader at yesterday’s open workouts in Hoboken, N.J., and he recalled Alexander Gustaffson getting a title fight after a crushing loss by knockout to Rumble. “It’s one of those things where I’ve just got to do my job. Like I said, I forgot about that stuff, I’m not worried about it because I would get crazy and obsessive if I did.”
Pretty level-headed stuff from the man riding a nice win streak. Watch the rest of the scrum below.
