I don’t know how big of a deal this is to you, but as a New Yorker, the news that Ronda Rousey will be hosting “Saturday Night Live” on January 23 is huge to me.
Granted, I grew watching SNL – which, in case you don’t know, is a New York City-based comedy sketch show that airs live at 11:35pm on Saturday nights. Just about every great comedian has appeared in some form on the program, and the hosts will run the gamut of stardom, ranging from actors (like Alec Baldwin, who’s always funny) to musicians (like Katy Perry, who was surprisingly funny) to the occasional athlete (like Michael Jordan once hosted – he sucked).
Rousey will mark the first time ANYONE from the MMA world has even got close to Studio 8H. Yes, this is insanely huge, and though there is a big chance that Rousey could bomb (i.e., by unfunny), the fact that she was invited… wow.
