The line of competitors for a UFC champ is never ending. Shortly after female UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey finished her nemesis Miesha Tate once again via armbar, UFC president Dana White was quick to announce her next match-up. Rousey has been scheduled to fight Sara McMann at UFC 170 on February 22, 2014 in the co-main bout.
The current top contender is still Cat Zingano, as admitted by White, however because of injury, undefeated (7-0) McMann will earn the title shot in her second UFC showing. The vacating Invicta FC champ made a successful UFC debut with a first round TKO over Sheila Gaff at UFC 159. Many parallels have been drawn between the two opponents as both have medaled in the Olympics. McMann in Freestyle Wrestling and Rousey in Judo.
The event is set to take place in the UFC’s backyard of Las Vegas, NV and will headline Daniel Cormier vs. Rashad Evans. Also included is Demian Maia vs. Rory MacDonald.
