In case you were unsure, not only is UFC champ Ronda Rousey a badass in the cage with tons of mainstream recognition go for her, she’s also raking in the cheddar.
As per Forbes‘ list of the top paid female athletes of 2015:
One newcomer in the top 10 is UFC star Ronda Rousey, who ranks No. 8 with estimated earnings of $6.5 million. The mixed martial arts champion had a breakout year with roles in three big budget movies over the past 12 months, a best-selling autobiography and an appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated (she also showed up in SI’s swimsuit issue). Her endorsement portfolio includes Reebok, Metro PCS, Monster headphones, Buffalo David Bitton and Carl’s Jr.
A common refrain among the sport’s detractors is how little its athletes are compensated, especially compared to those competing in other sports. Well, it’s hard to argue that point when it comes to MMA’s truly biggest stars – especially where Rousey is concerned.
I say she deserves every penny she gets.
