Former UFC middleweight champ Rich Franklin may have lost via KO to Cung Le in his return to the class he once reigned, but that doesn’t mean he’s vacating the division once again. “Ace” explains that he is not looking to make a title run, just put on fights that the fans would like to see. What they would love is a fight with perennial contender Michael Bisping, says Franklin.
“I look at my Twitter and a lot of people talk about (Michael) Bisping. That would be an exciting fight and something the fans would want to see. I’m an exciting fighter, he’s an exciting fighter, and we both like to throw down. Since my ultimate goal is not to go back and capture the 185-pound title, it doesn’t really matter to me if it’s at 185 or a catchweight or 205. Wherever the UFC needed me, I would fight, as long as the fight made sense.” – MMAWeekly.com
With Bisping recently coming off a victory over a tough Alan Belcher; don’t be surprised if “The Count” declines Franklin’s request. The bout has the potential of a big payday for both men, but it also doesn’t move Bisping much higher up the rankings with a win over Franklin, who has had a roller-coaster of wins and losses as of late.
