It is rumored that a light heavyweight bout between “The Ultimate Fighter 1″ runner-up Stephan Bonnar and “The Ultimate Fighter 8″ cast member Krzysztof Soszynski, is in the works for UFC 110 on February 21st, which will be held at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. This event will also mark the UFC’s debut in Australia.
The fight was first reported by MMAWeekly, and the website MMAJunkie.com was told by a source close to the upcoming event that at least one of the competitors has been informed that bout agreements will be handed out this week.
Bonnar is looking to rebound from the second set of losses in his past six fights. He recently followed a unanimous decision loss to Jon Jones, and yet another defeat from decision against Mark Coleman at UFC 100. Before these losses, Stephan had back-to-back wins over Mike Nickels by submission and Eric Schafer by TKO. Unfortunately, shortly there after, he failed a drug test that put his MMA career on hiatus for 13 months.
Soszynski aka “The Polish Experiment”, has also been out of the limelight for awhile. His last fight was against Brandon Vera at UFC 102, which he took on short notice to replace an injured Matt Hamill. He lost the fight to a three round unanimous decision.
It has also been rumored by a few sources that UFC 110 is going to be headlined by a middleweight showdown between former PRIDE star Wanderlei Silva, [who has lost five of his last six fights] and Yoshihiro Akiyama, the former K-1 Hero’s fighter who recently won a bout with Alan Belcher at his UFC debut in July.
