Junior Dos Santos Gets Replacement Opponent for UFC 108

Originally Dos Santos was scheduled to fight Gabriel Gonzaga for UFC 108, but he had to pull out of the fight due to his ongoing battle with a staph infection. But, it has been most likely confirmed by MMA Junkie, that Dos Santos will be fighting against Gilbert Yvel on January 2nd’s main card.

“The contract is not signed yet, but it’s almost sure he will fight Gilbert Yvel, who is very experienced and loves the striking game,” says Dos Santos’ coach Luiz Dórea.

Dos Santos is looking to keep his unbeaten record of 3 consecutive wins. Through those three fights, he has taken down Fabricio Werdum, Stefan Struve and Mirko Cro Cop.

Though he has fought worldwide, this will be Gilbert Yvel’s  debut into the UFC. His most recent fight was at the June event “Ultimate Chaos” against former UFC Heavyweight Title contender Pedro Rizzo, where Dos Santos knocked him out in the first round. His record is currently 8 wins with 1 loss against Josh Barnett.

UFC 108 will be held on January 2nd 2010 in Las Vegas at the MGM.
