The youthful, striker Johny Hendricks (13-1) has defeated veteran, grappler Josh Koscheck (17-6) at UFC on Fox in front of the East Rutherford, New Jersey via split-decision.

It was a back and forth battle with both men scoring points over the other, round-by-round. Koscheck came out strong, shaking the Texan early. In the end it was Hendrick’s power shots that earned the judges split-decision. According to the UFC’s supplied stats, Hendricks out-struck Koscheck 59 to 91. Of those strikes, the significant shots landed were in Hendricks favor as well at  47 to 52. Koscheck did release a late third round mounted attack. Unfortunately for Koscheck, the out-grappling skills were showcased too late in the bout.

Following the victory, Hendricks requested a title shot, which would be against the winner of Georges St-Pierre vs. Carlos Condit, which takes place at UFC 154 in Dec. With Hendricks earning his fourth straight, the argument could be made that the young talent has earned his place in line.
