UFC 115: Liddell vs Franklin Live Results and Play by Play

Here you will find live results to UFC 115 as it takes place Saturday, June 12 from the General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Former UFC champions Chuck Liddell and Rich “Ace” Franklin look to once again capture a belt as they face off in the light heavyweight division. Also that night, the great up and coming Muay Thai fighter Pat Barry fights the legendar Mirko Cro Cop in the heavyweight division.  Make sure you check in starting 5:30  p.m.  PT as the preliminary bouts kick off. Light Heavyweight bout: United States Chuck Liddell vs. United States Rich Franklin

Round One: Both fighters come out and feel eachother out with jabs. Franklin lands an inside leg kick and ducks punches from Liddell. Franklin lands another kick and Liddell does as well. Franklin lands a solid left punch and ducks a punch from Liddell. Liddell attempts a low kick. Franklin responds with a clinch and hits Liddell with a couple punches. Liddell fires back with some solid leg kicks, Franklin shoots back with a low kick.  The fighters exchange a few punches and both land some. Liddell lands a takedown and attempts to pass guard, but Franklin uses a butterfly guard and is on his feet. As the fighters get up, Liddell shows a large gash on his head. The fighters again exchange kicks and Liddell lands a low one. Franklin shoots back with a one-two combo and scoots out of Liddell’s range. Franklin lands another low kick, Liddell responds with his own low kick and knocks Franklin off kilter. Liddell tries to move in and eats a punch. Franklin shoots a head kick and hits Liddell with a few more punches. Liddell finally moves in and knocks Franklin against the cage, and lunges at him. Franklin ducks him and slams Liddell with a huge right to the chin which knocks him out in seconds. Liddell falls to the ground, and Franklin pauses before throwing another punch. The fight ends in an awesome KO. Rich Franklin wins  over Chuck Liddell via KO (punch) – Round 1, 4:55.

Heavyweight bout: Croatia Mirko Filipovic vs. United States Patrick Barry

Round One:
Barry rushes in with a punch, and Mirko circles. The two throw some small exchanges and neither land flush. Barry flicks some leg kick. Filipovic with a punch. Barry drops Filipovic with a punch, but lets him up. Barry ducks under a straight left but let’s Filipvic take center. Barry with inside leg kick. “Cro Cop” leading with his straight left. Barry gets in another leg kick. Barry misses with a punch. “Cro Cop” throws a hook kick and misses. Barry switches stance, then misses with a punch. Barry drops “Cro Cop” again with a right hand, but he lets the former PRIDE star up. Action stalls. The two men trade hard body kicks. Cro Cop again with a hook kick. Barry misses with high kick. Barry with a blancing punch as “Cro Cop” goes for the legs. They clash again but nothing connects. Jab misses for Barry. Barry with a leg kick. Barry check’s Cro Cop’s return. Barry ducks under punch and the two lock up. Cro Cop takes Barry down. It looks like he has the fighter in trouble until Barry throws a high kick to back Cro Cop off. Barry is smiling widely. They two share a hug in the center of the ring. It appears to be a friendly session of face-punching. Barry misses with a high kick as the round ends. Round Two:
Barry takes a blocked high kick, then another from Filipovic. Barry leaps in and gets caught with a body kick. “Cro Cop” follows with a flurry of punches that greet blocked. Barry’s hands are way down. “Cro Cop” misses with a side kick. Barry feinting with jabs. Filipovic punches in and the two tie up against the cage. “Cro Cop” attacks Barry’s thighs with his fists. He sweeps Barry to the ground briefly and again punches the thighs. Barry with a body shot. Filipovic misses with a return punch, but lands a body kick. “Cro Cop” with a glancing side kick. Barry misses with a high kick and gets caught in a front headlock position. Filipovic uses it to roll the striker onto his back at half-guard. Barry struggles to get up. Action stalls out. Filipovic takes full mount. Barry rolls over and gives his back. Filipovic has hooks in and his punching as Barry tries to escape. Filipovic nearly gets his arms cinched for the choke, but the round ends with Barry basically sitting into his idol as the round ends. CagedInsider.com scores the round 10-9 for Filipovic.

Round Three:
The two hug again to start the round. Filipovic with a high kick that gets blocked. Filipovic lands a glancing straight left. He follows with an axe kick to Barry’s neck. The two lock up after Barry misses with a one-two, and Filipovic throws a knee. They break off, and Barry floors Filipovic with a low kick as Filipovic goes high with a kick of his own. “Cro Cop” with a jab. Barry with a leg kick. “Cro Cop” misses with another approach of punches. Barry checks a low kick. Barry with a big left hand. But he nearly eats an uppercut inside. Filipovic lands an uppercut and hook on the way in, and the two lock up against the cage. They trade elbows in close. Action has slowed. Lavigne separates them. Filipovic backs Barry up with a flurry punches and drops him with one particularly hard shot. Filipovic has Barry against the cage and his punching away with his left hand, prompting Lavinge to get within striking distance of a stoppage. But the ref shows restraint, and Filipovic transitions to Barry’s back, where he cinches in an arm-only choke. Barry taps out after very little struggle. The official time is 4:30.

Welterweight bout: Brazil Paulo Thiago vs. Denmark Martin Kampmann

Round One:
As the two fighters begin the fight, Kampmann comes in with a jab. The two throw a few more jabs, feeling eachother out. Thiago throws a kick and Kampmann counters it with a straight right. He again counters with a right hand as Thiago closes in. Kampmann shoots a jab and throws a leg kick. Kampmann again counters Thiago’s kick. The two exchange for a bit ad Thiago lands his first shot of the round. Kampmann throws a jab. Thiago catches Kampmann’s leg, but he worms away. Thiago misses a punch and two high kicks. Kampmann hits Thiago with another right hand and Thiago shoots for his leg. Kampmann get his leg knocked out from beneath him and falls against the cage. He uses this position to reverse, but Thiago gets him to the mat once again. Kampmann is up and tries for a choke. As Thiago attempts to wriggle out of it and almost gets caught in a guillotine at the end of the round.

Round Two: Kampmann starts working the jab, followed with a low leg kick. Thiago comes close to landing a huge uppercut, just missing. Thiago throws a big right hand, but Kampman pulls in a clinch. Thiago breaks off and swings wildly missing. Thiago shoots for a takedown and Kampmann sprawls perfectly. Thiago gets caught in a clinch but quickly scrambles out. Kampman somehow takes Thiago’s back but can’t gets his hooks in, so he switches to half-guard and reaches for an arm triangle as Thiago rolls to his knees. Thiago traps Kampmann’s left arm. Crowd starts to boo. Kampmann goes strong for the kimura. Thiago uses it to roll him over and take half-guard. Thiago lands a few punches but can’t keep Kampmann in position. Round Three: Both men come out not wanting to throw punches. The two trade good hooks before clinching. The two slowly go to the mat with Kampmann again on top. Kampmann postures up and attempts to drop bombs. Kampman instead gets caught in Thiago’s legs. Kampmann switches to side control and attempts an arm triangle. Thiago defends and Kampmann goes for his back. Thiago drives forward but Kampmann sprawls and stuffs a single-leg attempt. Kampmann gets up quickly off a knee as Thiago gets another headlock as he gets back on top. Thiago finally escapes the position and stands up. Thiage throws a big right hook. Kampmann again shoots taking him back to the mat. Kampmann again threatens an arm triangle and tries to transition to the back mount. Thiago’s eyes look faded as he is saved by the bell. Heavyweight bout: United States Ben Rothwell vs. Netherlands Gilbert Yvel

Round One:
Ben Rothwell charges forward right away with a barrage of punches . Yvel gets hit with a few before firing back with a few big blows of his own. Rothwell gets a slow takedown and quickly gets side mount, then quickly transferring to full mounts on Yvel. Yvel reverses and stands. After a little exchange Rothwell takes Yvel down again passing to side mount, this time against the cage. Rothwell tries to pass, but decides instead to attempt an Americana. Rothwell gives it up to drop some short elbows. Rothwell works for a crucifix and Yvel stands up in a scramble. But he can’t stay there long before Rothwell gets another takedown and mounts him against the cage. Yvel is sitting up with the wall at his back until Rothwell flattens him out and throws some elbows. Yvel is struggling from the bottom. Then, all of a sudden, he grabs Rothwell’s foot. Rothwell scrambles out and quickly locks in a crucifix position. Yvel again scrambles out and get to his feet where he tags Rothwell with a left hook. The two are swinging wildly with Yvel getting the most landing punches out of the trade. Yvel backs off a clinch with a high kick. Rothwell lands a knee at the round. The two fighters look gassed.. Round Two:
The fighters are visibly gassed out, and Yvel shoots a sloppy leg kick. Rothwell runs in and throws him to the mat. He gains side-mount and pummels Yvel’s body with punches. Yvel attempts to get up, but only gains half-guard. Yvel tries to reverse again and is mounted by Rothwell who delivers some nasty right elbows. He gives up mount and Yvel jumps to his feet. The two seem to rest on eachother for a second to catch their breath. Rothwell again snatches Yvel’s legs and tosses him to the ground. Yvel quickly reverses and lands some nice punches from on top. Rothwell is visibly shaken, but not giving up. Yvel postures up for a slugger, but Rothwell comes in for the takedown, Yvel is too tired to resist him. Rothwell gets in half-guard and begins working on his right arm. He mounts Yvel with ease and throws a few more left elbows before the bell sounds. Round Three:
The two quickly wrestle eachother to the floor with Rothwell getting top position. Yvel tries to attack Rothwells arm, and leaves Rothwell a chance to pass to side mount. Yvel attempts to lock up Rothwell’s head with his legs, but Rothwell stays in side mount. Rothwell attempts a crucifix, then gets full mount. Rothwell is unable to hold it. The two try grappling with no gas making for a slow fight. Rothwell gets over Yvel’s guard and attempts an Americana. He gives the arm up and postures to throw punches. Rothwell traps Yvel’s arms and locks in a crucifix. His right elbow lands to the face. Both men continue slowly grappling. Rothwell is still dominating on the top as he has the whole fight but not much action. Rothwell is tries throwing some weak hammer fists to Yvel to end the round. Welterweight bout: United States Carlos Condit vs. Canada Rory MacDonald

Round One:
Quickly MacDonald catches a body kick attempt, and takes Condit down for some ground and pound. MacDonald stands to his feet, waving for MacDonald to stand. MacDonald rushes Condit landing again with a big right in the exchange. The two back up and exchange again until MacDonald pulls off a double-leg takedown. Condit stops MacDonalds attempts to pass. Condit stands allowing MacDonald up. MacDonald charges and gets caught with a large counter staggering MacDonald. Condit rushes to tie-up the Canadian He catches Condit’s kick and returns with a hard punch. He catches Condit again in an exchange and rushes in for another takedown. Condit again tries to tie the Canadian. Macdonald tries to pass but can’t get anywhere before Condit scrambles to stand. Condit attempts to land knees from the clinch as MacDonald advances but nothing lands. The two break off and trade kicks. Condit with nice cross leg kick combination. Condit with a front kick, then a leg kick. MacDonald’s face is badly swollen. MacDonald catches another kick but does not capitalize much on it. MacDonald lands a big punch when Condit runs at him. Condit attempts some kicks and almost gets caught with a few hooks. And once again MacDonald catches another one of Condit’s kicks. MacDonald doesn’t take him down, but when they go at it again, he lands on top. But Condit gets to his feet again before MacDonald can do much. MacDonald misses a high kick, but Condit hits him with a kick to the body. Condit attempts a take down and almost gets MacDonald’s back, but he scrambles up and takes his guard. Condit gets tied up with MacDonald’s left leg and he waits for Condit to get up. MacDonald comes in with a jab and Condit attempts a spinning kick. The two tie up and MacDonald lands a good punch combo. Condit tries to shoot but misses. Condit takes a few jab, but both are not fighting with as much energy as before. Condit attempts a few more high kicks. The round ends when Condit jumps in front with a kick as MacDonald kicks at the same time and Condit falls on his back. The third round starts off with a leaping knee from MacDonald, followed by a high kick. The two start swinging, but Condit can’t seem to land any punches. Condit wrestles MacDonald to the floor and lands him in a half-guard. Condit gets up and strikes down on MacDonald before he returns to half-guard and follows with some ground and pound. Condit takes mount for a short time but MacDonald scrambles to his feet. The fighters trade punches before Condit moves it to the floor again. Condit continues to try and pass, but does some damage while one top, tearing MacDonald up with his right elbow Condit gets up again and throws down some major punches. MacDonald attempts to get up but Condit is on him like a bum on a ham sandwich. Condit is owning the round as of this point. He kicks MacDonald’s legs, and again slams down punches and returns to half-guard once more. With just nine seconds before the end, Dorman call off the fight and the crows chants “BULLSH**T!!”

MacDonald stands to his feet, waving for MacDonald to stand. MacDonald  rushes Condit landing again with a big right in the exchange. The two back up and exchange again until MacDonald pulls off a double-leg takedown. Condit stops MacDonalds attempts to pass. Condit stands allowing MacDonald up. MacDonald charges and gets caught with a large counter staggering MacDonald. Condit rushes to tie-up the Canadian  He catches Condit’s kick and returns with a hard punch. He catches Condit again in an exchange and rushes in for another takedown. Condit again tries to tie the Canadian. Macdonald tries to pass but can’t get anywhere before Condit scrambles to stand. Condit attempts to land knees from the clinch as MacDonald advances but nothing lands. The two break off and trade kicks. Condit with nice cross leg kick combination. Condit with a front kick, then a leg kick. MacDonald’s face is badly swollen. MacDonald catches another kick but does not capitalize much on it. MacDonald intercepts Condit and gets a takedown at the bell. CagedInsider.com scores the round 10-9 for MacDonald. Caged Insider scores 10-9 MacDonald Round Two: MacDonald lands a big punch when Condit runs at him. Condit attempts some kicks and almost gets caught with a few hooks. And once again MacDonald catches another one of Condit’s kicks. MacDonald doesn’t take him down, but when they go at it again, he lands on top. But Condit gets to his feet again before MacDonald can do much. MacDonald misses a high kick, but Condit hits him with a kick to the body. Condit attempts a take down and almost gets MacDonald’s back, but he scrambles up and takes his guard. Condit gets tied up with MacDonald’s left leg and he waits for Condit to get up. MacDonald comes in with a jab and Condit attempts a spinning kick. The two tie up and MacDonald lands a good punch combo. Condit tries to shoot but misses. Condit takes a few jab, but both are not fighting with as much energy as before. Condit attempts a few more high kicks. The round ends when Condit jumps in front with a kick as MacDonald kicks at the same time and Condit falls on his back. CagedInsider.com scores the round 10-9 MacDonald Round Three: The third round starts off with a leaping knee from MacDonald, followed by a high kick. The two start swinging, but Condit can’t seem to land any punches. Condit wrestles MacDonald to the floor and lands him in a half-guard. Condit gets up and strikes down on MacDonald before he returns to half-guard and follows with some ground and pound. Condit takes mount for a short time but MacDonald scrambles to his feet. The fighters trade punches before Condit moves it to the floor again. Condit continues to try and pass, but does some damage while one top, tearing MacDonald up with his right elbow Condit gets up again and throws down some major punches. MacDonald attempts to get up but Condit is on him like a bum on a ham sandwich. Condit is owning the round as of this point. He kicks MacDonald’s legs, and again slams down punches and returns to half-guard once more. With just nine seconds before the end, Dorman call off the fight and the crows chants “BULLSH**T!!”<strong>Carlos Condit wins over Rory MacDonald by TKO (strikes) – Round 3, 4:53</strong>
