Report: UFC veteran heavyweight shot five times in Brazil
It’s being reported by Parana Online (Brazil outlet) that Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran heavyweight Assuerio Silva has been shot five times outside his gym in Curtiba, Brazil on Tuesday, Jan. 30. He currently is said to reside in a local hospital in critical condition. No details at this time as to who the shooter is or the motivations behind the attempted murder.
Silva, 38 was last seen in the UFC back in 2007 when he lost to Cheick Kongo via TKO. Since then the veteran has been performing in Jungle Fights, taking on Todd Duffee, defeating David Anderton and recently losing to Geronimo dos Santos in 2009. He is best known for his victories over Igor Pokrajac, Alessio Sakara, and Valentijn Overeem.
