Reports have come in from SporTV in Brazil that former UFC light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has been targeted for the UFC’s popular Superbowl weekend card. The UFC has not yet confirmed the bout, but that may be likely to finalization of contracts still in process.
Evans (17-2-1) will look to make his return after a title loss to Jon Jones on April 21st, which ended a four-fight win-streak in the division. The bout puts Evans just short of a one-year layoff.
“Lil Nog” (20-5) will be dealing with even more ring rust after sitting out since Dec. 2011 when he defeated Tito Ortiz via TKO at UFC 140. Since then the twin brother of “Big Nog” has been dealing with a severe knee injury, which forced the former boxer to pull out of a bout with Alexander Gustafsson on April 14th for a UFC on Fuel card.
As usual, we will be updating as the details emerge and the bout is confirmed.
