Joe’s UFC 109 PredictionsFebruary 4, 2010 by Joe Rocha

It’s that time again, as I make predictions about the unpredictable sport of MMA. It has been a minute since I have had the chance to get on here as I have been working on the launch of our new design. All in due time, but lets jump right into it, I know that’s what you are all looking for:
Light Heavyweight bout: Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman
Randy Couture by Decision
Randy is favored to win and for good reasons. He definitely has the track record to make me confident in this decision. Not to say Coleman has not improved as he is looking the best we have seen ever!
Middleweight bout: Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen
Nate Marquardt 2nd round TKO
Chael Sonnen has been running his mouth lately, and he does have the skills to back it up; they just aren’t on the same level as Marquardt’s camp I feel.
Welterweight bout: Mike Swick vs. Paulo Thiago
Mike Swick 1st round KO
Though I chose Swick for a dominating first round KO, I think this is still a punchers chance fight. Could go either way.
Middleweight bout: Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller
Dan Miller by TKO 3rd round
Maia, I feel has not fully regained his confidence after his brutal KO from the hands of Marquard. That can shake up a Jiu-Jitsu aces game.
Welterweight bout: Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg
Matt Serra by Decision
As much as I would like to see Trigg winning in the UFC, I think Serra is more of a dark horse then people realize in this fight. Watch Carter vs. Serra. Serra lost the bout, but is a perfect example of his versatility.
Lightweight bout: Mac Danzig vs. Justin Buchholz
Mac Danzig by 1st round KO
Danzig is a natural talent that has fallen on bad times. I believe he is aware of the severity of this match to stay in the UFC. He will be hungry for this W.
Lightweight bout: Melvin Guillard vs. Ronys Torres
Ronys Torres by split decision
Really hard to choose between these talented athletes. Only Torres is on a 8 win streak, giving him much more confidence in the fight.
Lightweight bout: Phillipe Nover vs. Rob Emerson
Phillipe Nover by decision
Both men are on a two loss streak, but Nover is the scrapper that may pull an upset here.
Light Heavyweight bout: Brian Stann vs. Phil Davis
Phil Davis by 1st round KO
Phil Davis has been impressing the hell out of me, and I think he will continue his undefeated record.
Heavyweight bout: Tim Hague vs. Chris Tuchscherer
Tim Hague by 2nd round TKO
Heavyweight bout: Mostapha Al-turk vs. Rolles Gracie
Rolles Gracie by 1st round Submission
