Former top contender Nate Diaz was looking to provoke the current lightweight champ Anthony Pettis with comments on the champs recent pull out of his title defense against Josh Thomson, due to injury.
Bitching outta everyother fight now ?wonder what that's like? #urpayingthesepussys

He’s done so successfully, but sometimes you should be careful what you wish for. “Showtime” has unleashed a response that’s going to sting, as Pettis points out Diaz’s speech impediment with mockery, as well as reminding every one of Diaz’s current two fight losing streak in the division.
2 losses + lisssssp + best offense is your middle finger = can't talk shit!!! #votepettis

Of course, the champ finds his composure and shows regret moments later.
I shouldn't let people who talk trash get me out of character. #champ4areason

Don’t expect these men to square-off anytime soon. With one on a two-fight slump and the other standing to defend against two top contenders in line, it would take some unlikely circumstances to put on the grudge match.
