There are 12 fights booked for UFC on FOX 9 now, and the latest is another intriguing addition to the December 14th card. The UFC has announced that former Strikeforce contender Pat Healy will throw down with former WEC champ Jamie Varner at the event, which will be hosted by Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena.
Varner (21-8-1) will be looking to get back on track, after the Arizona lightweight lost by split decision to Gleison Tibau at UFC 164 in August. Before that the 28 year-old worked his way to a split decision win over Melvin Guillard at UFC 155, which took place last December. “C-4″ is 3-2 in his last 5 fights.
Healy (29-17) is also looking for a win, as the rugged vet was out-grappled by the emerging Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 165 last month, and lost by UD. Healy returned to the UFC in April and defeated longtime contender Jim Miller, but the bout was overturned after “Bam Bam” tested positive for marijuana. The 30 year-old is 3-1 with 1 no contest in his last five tilts.
So, UFC on FOX 9 is definitely a stacked card, as it also will feature Pettis-Thomson, Mendes-Lentz, Condit- Brown and Faber-McDonald, amongst other promising bouts.
