Ortiz: Now awaiting Cyborg’s release from UFC (Video)

The men may have just had their Aldo vs. Edgar super-fight, but it seems the women will not. No time soon anyhow as Tito Ortiz explains to AXS.TV’s Inside MMA panel that women cannot cut weight as men do, as they have “less water weight.”

“Right now, we’re actually waiting for UFC to release her,” Ortiz stated. “We asked for them to release her. So,  [Dana White] actually talked to me [Thursday]. They gave an offer, I went to Cyborg and she said she didn’t want to do it. And we just asked for a release.

“Since they’re not having a 145-pound weight class, what else [can] they do? As of now, she’s gonna be released and maybe we’ll go look at somewhere else and you’ll be seeing Cyborg crush some other women’s faces.”

As Invicta FC begins to build a worthy brand, Cyborg will likely become the new face of the opposing organization. The 27-year-old stands at a phenomenal 10-1-1, only losing her first bout in 2005.
