Nick Diaz has now “served his time” for his two arrests for driving under the influence from 2013 and 2014.
The 31 year old UFC welterweight turned himself in to authorities at the San Joaquin County Jail in California yesterday, to complete his two-day prison term. He was released later in the day, since he received credit for the time spent in jail after his initial arrest.
TMZ broke the news — and noted it was a “great deal” for the Stockton, California fighter, who is 26-9-2 in his MMA career. Diaz To complete the terms of his plea bargain, he will also serve three years of probation.
It’s the latest sidetrack in a winding career for Diaz. Just last month, he was caught on video brawling backstage at MMA World Series of Fighting 22. WSOF authorities saw Diaz (and his brother Nate) as picking a fight with UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov and his crew. The brothers Diaz have since been banned from WSOF events.
Diaz last fought in January of this year, losing a unanimous decision to Anderson Silva at UFC 183. Both fighters would fail drug tests surrounding the botu, with Diaz testing positive for marijuana metabolites and Silva testing positive for steroids (among others). The official result of the bout was switched to a no-contest.
