Former UFC welterweight contender Nick Diaz may still be suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission, but he’s still making headlines outside of the cage.
In a recent interview with Chael Sonnen, the always outspoken Diaz, who memorably declared “all you motherf—-rs are on steroids!” regarding the UFC roster after receiving his suspension, turned his attention to an old opponent in Georges St-Pierre.
“I’m pretty convinced about everybody is on steroids. I mean everybody. I’m the only one, me and my brother. I don’t think Frankie [Edgar] is on steroids, but a lot of these guys, they’re on steroids,” Diaz said, as quoted by Jeff Cain of MMA Weekly. “As far as I’m concerned, everybody’s on steroids. Georges St. Pierre was on steroids when I fought him.”
Diaz says that when he fought the then-170 lb titlist Georges St-Pierre, back at UFC 158 in Quebec, Canada, there was no drug testing to speak of.
How does he know? Well…
“They didn’t test us because I would have tested positive for sure on that fight,” Diaz said. “I thought it was my last fight ever. What do I care? It’s like almost asking too much to win and not give away that fine. I’m like what do I care about the fine.”
Diaz is referring to his own penchant for marijuana. Of course, he loves fighting too. So maybe he can leave the herb alone long enough for a rematch, should GSP decide to come out of his unofficial retirement?
Sounds like a plan, says the Stockton native.
“That dude needs to come back and give me another fight,” Diaz said. We shall see…
