Nick Diaz may have retired (again) from fighting after losing his title fight to Georges St-Pierre, however following a break-up with his girlfriend, the former Strikeforce champ had posted on Instagram that he would like a fight in the UFC. Dana White has since responded with a big yes — leaving just negotiations to be figured out. Here’s what Nick’s manager Cesar Gracie had to say on the matter.
“As far as his fighting and everything. He’s been in Vegas, he just got back a couple of days ago. There is an offer on the table, that’s all I can say. It’s something everyone is looking at right now and discussing with him. Dana has offered him a fight. There is an offer on the table, I can’t say who it is, but it’s kind of neat I think. But no decisions have been made for sure.”
It’s intriguing that the Diaz camp would find the match-up “neat,” as they’ve ran into road blocks, demanding that Nick is only involved in ‘super-fights’ such as against Anderson Silva or a rematch with GSP. Who else would catch Diaz’ eye for a big payday, with most of the welterweight division contenders tied up? Also, does this affect Diaz’ new WAR MMA promotions?
