Invicta FC’s Tecia Torres: A New Star is Born

A new star was born, as undefeated Invicta FC Strawweight contender Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres (4-0) dominated veteran Felice “Lil Bulldog” Herrig by unanimous decision at InvictaFC 7. All I can say about Torres’ performance is wow!

The American Top Team representative Torres dominated the striking with a beautiful display of kickboxing, using flurries of punches, leg kicks and axe kicks to the head to punish Herrig in their three round clash. Herrig is no slouch in the kickboxing department as she possessed a professional kickboxing record of 23-5, and is a former International Kickboxing Federation Pro Women’s Muay Thai Champion. Torres made Herrig look like an amateur and just punished her on the feet.

The aggression that Torres displayed was honestly reminiscent of Wanderlei Silva as she kept her foot on the gas for the entire fight and did not take a step back. This is Torres’ fourth consecutive professional victory, as well as her fourth win in the Invicta FC cage. She made her Invicta FC debut at Invicta 3 against Kalyana Rain winning the bout by unanimous decision. She scored another unanimous decision win at Invicta 4 defeating Paige VanZant. Torres then defeated Rufus Sport standout Rose Namajunas at Invicta 6 also winning by unanimous decision. After this win, it’s difficult to deny her the opportunity to fight for the Strawweight title.

It looks like a fight with current Invicta FC Strawweight Champion Carla Esparza may be next for the young Torres, as Esparza walked into the cage and called out Torres hinting at a future fight. Esparza was set to defend her title against Claudia Gadelha on this event, however a bacterial infection to Gadelha forced her off of the card.

Do you guys think that a title fight for “The Tiny Tornado” should be next, or does she need to take another fight before the title shot?
