Nate Diaz defeats Cowboy Cerrone at UFC 141 (play by play)

Nate Diaz (15-7-0) has defeated Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (17-4-1) at UFC 141 with superior striking, landing combo after combo to get the  judges nod. Here is the full play-by-play.

Round one:

Cerrone rushes out dangerously swinging through punches. Nate gets one under hook. Cerrone throws him off and Nate starts to tee off. Cerrone lands his own counter right. Nate is now landing combination after combination. Diaz is picking cowboy apart. Diaz is landing to the head over and over. Cerrone is getting his kicks in now but Diaz is still getting the better of it and now Cowboy is bleeding.  Cerrone may have a broken jaw as he is not closing his mouth.

Round two:

Diaz comes out mean mugging. A low leg kick drops Diaz, but Diaz pops back-up. Cerrone is now going to his kicking dropping Diaz again with a low leg that sweeps Diaz on one foot. Diaz back up comes forward gets the back of Cerrone briefly. Diaz now back to landing the combination. Cowboy gets the low leg kick to drop Diaz again. Diaz is now laying on the pressure and using his cardio to tire his opponent. Diaz trips for the A slap is landed by Diaz, but shortly after he is dropped again by a kick. Diaz aggressive comes forward to finish the round.

Round three:

Cerrone lands a right hook. Diaz now in and out landing. Diaz now trash talking hands down, mixing up the shots to the body. Diaz gets sweeped by Cerrone. Cerrone lands a big knee to the body. Diaz comes forward swinging and is outlanding Cerrone four to one. Again Cerrone gets the sweep. Cerrone lands a big left hook. Head kick lands for Cerrone and Diaz comes forward with a final combo landing.

Official: Nate Diaz defeats Donald Cerrone via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

The victory equates to Nate’s second win in the Octagon, his last being a complete decimation of Takanori Gomi at UFC 135 in September.
