Mir moves camp to Jackson’s MMA for Cormier Fight

Frank Mir has decided to change his Las Vegas scenery in for another desert in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This in preparation for his upcoming fight against Daniel Cormier on April 20th. According to the former champ, Greg Jackson is one of the best when it comes to game-planning, which he wouldn’t mind having for his upcoming fight against the undefeated Olympic wrestler.

“I’ve always felt I have great trainers so there was no reason to leave, but my wife and I were talking about how I needed to change things up. One of the things was maybe I should get out of town and get more focused. I’ve always been impressed with Greg Jackson’s game planning. I figured, before I retire, I want to be a part of that and see what makes this guy so successful.” – Via ESPN

The team of Mike Winklejohn and Greg Jackson have crafted many champions and contenders through the years, from Georges St-Pierre to the recent innovative Jon Jones. Come UFC on Fox, Mir plans to add another victory to the successful camps mantle.

“Level of competition is important. He’s done most of his damage in Strikeforce. Not to downplay Strikeforce, but it’s not the UFC. I think it’s going to be another one of those things where people are destined to be disappointed. After our fight, he’s already said he’s going to 205 pounds. That doesn’t sound like a confident guy who wants to stay at heavyweight.”

Whether we see a still undefeated contender in AKA standout Daniel Cormier or a re-invented Frank Mir will all be found on April 20th in San Jose, CA.
