Mike Brown cuts retirement short to fight Akira Corassani

Exiting the game on a win-streak is no easy task to follow through on. Not even a year into retirement and Mike Brown is ready to step back in the cage to attempt to extend his two fight win-streak, and who can blame him. The 37-year-old featherweight will get no easy welcome back either, as he meets  TUF alumni Akira Corassani at UFC on Fox Sports 1:1 on August 17 in Boston, Mass.

Brown, a former WEC featherweight champ and winner of three fight bonuses, is coming off a win over Nam Phan and more recently Daniel Pineda in July, 2012. Known for his viscous submission game and  knockout power, the only slight that could be made against Brown is ring rust and age.

For Corassani, we are looking at a  somewhat  a younger version of Brown. Just as aggressive, looking for the finish; only short in experience. Defeating Andy Ogle then Robbie Peralta in April via decision makes Akira the perfect match-up.

Currently the UFC on Fox Sports 1:1 debut is set to feature headliners Benson Henderson vs. TJ Grant as well as a co-headline bout between heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Travis Browne. For more latest news on UFC on Fox Sports 1, check back with
