The winner of this Saturday’s UFC 109 co-headliner fight between Chael Sonnen and Nate Marquardt, will earn a shot at the middleweight title, says Dana White.
Today at UFC’s pre-event press conference, Dana White made the confirmation that the winner of the event’s co-main-event will definitely have a shot for the title.
“We always had it in mind,” White stated. “These are two of the top five middleweights in the world depending on what you look at.”
White feels that Marquardt who lost his first chance at winning the belt, definitely deserves a second try.
“Nate’s been deserving it for a while,” White said.
Sonnen on the other hand, just rejoined the UFC earlier this year after trying out with WEC and BodogFIGHT. He is now 2-1 with two consecutive victories over Dan Miller Yushin Okami via judges decision.
