Luke Rockhold relayed after his May 18th loss to Vitor Belfort, you may have heard about it, that he was hoping to fight again soon, and now the former Strikeforce champ has called out Michael Bisping. That’s a list of call outs that’s getting pretty long.
Rockhold took to Twitter today and stated:
@bisping u dont have opponent, I dont have opponent, u talk shit about “practice” i say we set the record straight once & for all @danawhite
In case you forgot, Rockhold’s referring to statements Bisping made about him while appearing on SPIKE TV’s “MMA Uncensored Live” show last year, which weren’t very kind . Bisping said that he had sparred with Rockhold in the past, and that “let’s just say I’m the unofficial Strikeforce champion. Sorry Luke, but these are the facts.” Obviously Rockhold hasn’t forgotten the comment. What a shocker.
Now, Rockhold versus Bisping would certainly be a good fight, but will it happen? It could.
While Bisping may be gunning for someone that’s ranked higher than him, following his recent UD win over Alan Belcher, the top five middleweights are all booked or are non-starters. Yushin Okami versus “Jacare” Souza appears likely and Vitor Belfort, well, a rematch with Bisping isn’t happening anytime soon. The only other available middleweight in the top ten is Costas Philippou.
(Update: Bisping has responded to Rockhold via Twitter by saying “I say you go and win a fight in the UFC then we can talk”. So, there you have it.)
