Although their first scheduled bout for October 9th fell through due to injuries, Jeremy Stephens and Rony Mariano Bezerra have verbally agreed to throw down at UFC Fight Night 32 on November 9th. The event will take place in Goiania, Brazil, so Stephens still won’t be the crowd favourite that night…(the October 9th, UFC FN 29 card will take place in Barueri, Brazil).
The Brazilian outlet Globo.com reported the match-up and the UFC has tweeted the news.
Stephens (21-9) will be looking to move to 2-0 as a featherweight, as the powerful vet is coming off a unanimous decision win over Esteven Payan at UFC 160, which marked “Lil Heathen’s” debut at 145. Prior to the win Stephens had lost three straight, which included a vicious KO defeat at the hands of Yves Edwards. The 27 year-old had gone 4-1 in his five bouts prior to the losing streak.
Bezerra, or “Jason” (13-3), has gone 3-0 now in the UFC and won the debut season of “TUF Brazil.” Most recently, the 29 year-old Brazilian choked out Mike Wilkinson at a UFC on FUEL card in June. The featherweight, who you might also know by the goalie mask he dons from time-to-time, is 9-1 in his last 10 fights.
UFC FN 32 will be headlined by a must see light-heavyweight bout between Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson. The card will be broadcast in the U.S. via FOX Sports 1.
