Lesnar: Had the best camp, no injuries, Overeem is that much better

Following the first round decimation of Brock Lesnar at the strikes of Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 (consequently retiring Lesnar), some questioned if we saw a fully healed Brock that night.  UFC president Dana White explains on The Jim Rome Show, this in fact could not be further from the truth, as Lesnar had admitted to him that Overeem was just that much better of a competitor.

This isn’t baseball man, half in, half out, you can go out and party the night before and then play a game”, said Dana White. “These guys have to be 100-percent into this mentally, physically, emotionally,” White stated.

“Here’s what Brock said to me, he said ‘I’ll tell you what after my surgery from diverticulitis, this last surgery I had, I have never felt so good in my life’. He said ‘I’ve had the best camp I’ve ever had, no injuries, I was in great shape, all the things that could go right, went right, that guy is just that much better than me and it’s time for me to retire’.”

“I think Brock’s done. The conversations I’ve had with Brock Lesnar since that fight, all indications point to it’s over.”

I never liked Brock Lesnar and was glad to see him go but respect his drive, determination, and willingness to go after “as Real as it Gets” when he could have been collecting pay checks for something a little less “Real”.  i do not agree with Dana White…he couldn’t have been 100%.  Diverticulitis is a very serious condition and often takes years to completely if ever heal.  It only took the kick…and he was done.  Google the condition… in Lesnar’s defense… He should not have been in the octagon. Was it the money? Fame? It wasnt worth  it!

I agree… Lesnar should not have been in the ring especially after surgery from a life threatening disease in a physically demanding sport
