Martin Kampmann (20-5 MMA, 11-4 UFC) has defeated “The Juggernaut,” Jake Ellenberger (27-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC), putting an end to his opponent’s impressive six fight win streak at The Ultimate Fighter Live Finale in Las Vegas, NV at the Palms Casino.
Follwing an early flurry from Ellenberger at the start of the first round, Kampmann was dropped to the canvas, but able to weather the storm, and make it through the round. Round two proved to make the difference as Kampmann clipped Ellenberger with a straight right and a follow-up finish with knees in the clinch that put his opponent to sleep.

Kampmann, now on a three fight win streak, had been said to be considered a top contender in the division. That however will not equate in a title shot as some have assumed. With champion, Georges St-Pierre expected to make his return to unify the belts against Carlos Condit in Nov., the belt will not be on the line again in 2012. In the meanwhile, Kampmann will look to stay busy with a fight against Johny Hendricks in the near future.
