JDS quickly KOs Velasquez to become UFC champ – Play by Play

Junior Dos Santos (14-1 MMA, 8-0 UFC) has defeated the formerly undefeated champion Cain Velasquez (9-1 MMA ) to become the new UFC heavyweight champion. It was a quick night of action as Dos Santos dropped Velasquez in the first round to finish it on the ground. The event was a historic one as it was the first UFC fight to ever air on broadcast television at its new home of Fox. Here is the live play by play.

Round One:
JDS lands the first leg kick. Dos Santos gets a hook in. Cain lands his own left hook. JDS lands a huge over hand right to the temple that drops Velasquez. JDS swarms and big John McCarthy waves it off. We have a new champion!

Junior Dos Santos continues his undefeated record in the UFC, taking out top contenders such as Roy Nelson, Shane Carwin, Gabriel Gonzaga, Mirko Cro Cop, and now Cain Velasquez. JDS will look to make his first title defense against the winner of Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem, taking place Dec. 30.
