UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks might be sidelined for the foreseeable future, but that doesn’t mean he can’t have fun with his fellow fighters.
Hendricks, a fan of NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, put up a bet with Donald Cerrone and his close friend, Kevin Harvic. The two are set to race in Virginia today and Texas next week.
“Say Johny Hendricks you think Jimmie Johnson will win over my man Kevin Harvick?” Cerrone asked on Twitter. “What we (betting) on this?”
Hendricks replied back with “loser pays for the next hunting trip.” Cerrone agreed to the deal.
The pages were turned a bit later on when the fighters were asked who would win – between Johnson and Harvick – if the two drivers stepped inside the Octagon.
“I’m going with Jimmie Johnson,” Hendricks boldly stated. “I’ll put my belt on that bet.”
While Hendricks and Cerrone kept it pretty PG, Johnson and Harvick went after each other in replies.
“Everyone knows Jimmie Johnson can’t fight….pretty boy,” Harvick wrote. To which Johnson responded with “Ha…I would rather be a pretty boy then all talk.”
The interactions even got UFC president Dana White involved, as he said “I’m in and will make that fight if they are serious.”
Hendricks stated plans to “have Jimmie ready for five rounds….we got this. Will game plan to win. You will be in Texas all next week.”
Harvick simply stated that “no need to train for 5…it will be a short fight.”
