UFC 154 in Montreal, Quebec will feature a rare occasion of Canadian natives against each other.
Ontario native, Sam Stout a will take on John Makdessi of Montreal, Quebec. UFC 154 takes place in Montreal so Makdessi will likely have the home crowd behind him. The card is headlined by a match between current welterweight champion George St. Pierre in his return bout since injury in a match to unify his title against interim title holder Carlos Condit. All of this takes place on November 17th at the Bell Centre arena.
John Makdessi was doing quite well in his UFC career winning his first two fight and going 9-0. His last win was in highlight fashion with a spinning back fist knockout. Unfortunately, he lost his next two fights. He was choked out by Dennis Hallman and out struck by Anthony Njokuani. He needs a win in this fight, and fighting Sam Stout he is set for a striking war. A loss here may spell the end of his UFC career though.
Sam Stout is a veteran of the lightweight division having entered the UFC all the way back UFC 58 back in 2006. Now, six years and thirteen fights later he has come to this fight. This fight is essentially make or break for him. Even though he is young at 28, his UFC record still stands at 7-6, but a win here would put him at 6-2 in his last eight fights. If he is impressive he may be able to finagle himself back into a fight with a top ten 155 fighter in the UFC. Only time will tell who wins, and who revives their UFC career.
