It seems Vitor Belfort is more than hungry to get in the cage as soon as possible. Following his call out of Chael Sonnen recently, Sonnen accepted, stating that he would take the bout on the blockbuster December card. Perhaps that wasn’t early enough for “The Phenom” as he has now called out former Pride opponent Dan Henderson. Hendo’s camp quickly responds:
“Vitor is at the top and Henderson is coming off two decision losses. A victory over him would build us up. Hendo is already 205lbs, this is his normal weight. If this bout happens in November, it will be excellent if included in [Georges St. Pierre]’s card in Las Vegas. I will pump him up. Vitor will regret to have asked for this rematch!” – Fighters Only Mag
The two originally faced off at Pride 32 as Hendo scored a unanimous decision win, followed by insult to injury as Belfort was caught with elevated testosterone by the commission. Belfort seems to want to avenge the loss, regardless of the fact that he is on a knockout win streak as Henderson suffers back to back controversial decision losses to Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans. No doubt a win over Hendo would still be big for Belforts case for a title shot at LHW or middleweight, even in today’s MMA landscape.
