GSP set to play in 2012 World Series of Poker for anti-bullying charity

UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre may be unable to compete in his main profession of mixed martial arts currently as he rehabilitates a torn ACL, but that doesn’t keep him from keeping his competitive spirit alive. 888 online poker and St-Pierre have come together in a sponsorship deal to raise money for an anti-bullying charity. The charity income will mainly be made through online special challenges offer that will ensure an income.

“I have wanted to play poker for a while now as it is a great game of skill. It is not just your cards versus my cards; it is you versus your opponent. However, the most important aspect of my partnership with 888poker is that we are going to generate a great deal of money for my foundation that dedicates its efforts towards anti-bullying causes.”

St-Pierre is not the first from the mixed martial arts realm to compete in poker tournaments as UFC ring announcer, Bruce Buffer is known for his huge earning in Vegas. Also, fellow UFC fighter Mike ‘Quick‘ Swick shocked many when he finished 10th out 2,000 in the 2010 WSOP event.
