His career in the Octagon may be marred by ups and downs, but one thing is for sure: Gian Villante can bang, and bang hard.
On tonight’s FOX Sports 1-broadcast prelims for UFC 193, the American entered the cage to take on Australian jiu-jitsu specialist Anthony Perosh, and he needed just under three minutes to put Perosh to sleep.
For his part, Perosh showed all his usual toughness. When Villante started finding his range and began landing head-kicks and punches, Perosh wobbled but stayed upright, intent to stay in the game to the bitter end.
Unfortunately for him, the “end” was to be determined by a method and time of Villante’s choosing – and he chose a perfectly-timed cross that sent Perosh to the canvas and had the ref jumping in immediately. It was so clean of a finishing blow that Villante didn’t even make a move to follow up.
The official time of the knockout was 2:56 of Round 1.
