Unless you’re incarcerated or you live in a subterranean society with limited Internet access, you’ve no doubt seen the countless videos where someone accepts an “ice bucket challenge” for the sake of ALS (a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease) awareness and charity. Invariably, the person doing the challenge talks into the camera, acknowledging what they’re doing, nominating three others to do the challenge within 24 hours, and then gamely standing there as a bucket of ice water is dumped on their heads (some videos have the acceptee taking an ice bath, but whatever).
Anyway, former UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar accepted the challenge yesterday. Unfortunately, the results were mixed.
It’s unclear if Edgar’s sons were unaware that ice water was a necessary part of the challenge, or if they’re just trying to kill him.
More on this as the story develops.
