It looks to be time to change things up at the TUF finale. The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale goes down this December 1st at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s scheduled to be headlined by a five round fight between coaches Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson. Also, it will have the tournament finals from the long running reality show. What wasn’t known until now is that it would have five matches not filled by the defeated from this season. Instead some proven octagon warriors will go to work inside the cage for the season finale.
One of the bigger matches will be 37 year old Mike Pyle looking to move to 6-1 in his last seven bouts against a surging James Head. Head will have to be careful as it seems Pyle has added power to his arsenal having stopped his last two opponents in the first round. Also on the docket will be Nick Catone and TJ Waldburger where both are looking to get back on track after recent losses. Catone will also be making the drop to 170 for this fight.
In a clash of Ultimate Fighter seasons Johnny Bedford takes on Ultimate Fighter Brazil cast mate Marco Vinicius Borges Pancini. This is most likely the first time anyone from an American version of the Ultimate fighter has taken on someone from a foreign version. Only one can win and prove their season better. 14-1 t Rustam Khabilov will take on another Ultimate Fighter alum in Vinc Pichel. This will be both fighters first fight in the octagon as Vinc was unable to make the live finale.
Lastly, Reuben Duran will take on Hugo Viana in a bantamweight matchup. These are all intriguing and potentially exciting match ups for the finale. All of these have the potential to be finishes and none of them should be booed. Nice edition to a card usually filled with defeated fighters from the reality TV show.
