Jon Fitch may already have an opponent in Erick Silva at UFC 153, but it doesn’t mean he will not strive for a rematch with the bigger name in B.J. Penn. The two had faced off in the past for title contention, only to fight to a draw, leaving both men empty handed. During a recent promo for the upcoming show ‘Fight Factory‘ based on Fitch’s training camp AKA, he insinuates that Penn has been dodging the rematch out of fear.
“Here at AKA, we’ve got fighters who come out to fight, fighters who will face anyone and don’t hide from any opponents. You’ve also got cowards out there like B.J. Penn who say they want to fight people, but then they run and hide.”
Recently B.J. had made it clear of his intentions to finish off his camp for UFC 152 at his former training ground of AKA. Unfortunately for Penn, since his departure Fitch has become team captain. When questioned if he would allow his verbal sparring partner on the grounds he had this to say.
“He’s a coward. He wouldn’t be welcomed here.”
As of now Penn has made it clear that he would like to wait for his current opponent Rory MacDonald to heal. The only issue is the fight card at which it will take place. Penn has asked for Brazil, while MacDonald has asked for the bout to take place in his home country of Canada.
