Rampage Jackson was said to be fighting for a possible title fight at UFC 130 according to UFC president Dana White. Following his decision win victory over Matt ‘The Hammer‘ Hamill however much of the press was left wondering if Jackson did in fact do enough to impress the UFC matchmakers to be next in line for a shot against Jon Jones. White explained at the post fight press conference that Rampage will still be next if he is cleared by the doctors.
“We’ve got to see what’s wrong with him. He’s talking about his hands,” White told Ariel Helwani. “We’ve got to get his hands looked at. I’m not gonna let the guy fight if he’s got bad hands.”
Should Jackson be unable to be cleared by the athletic commission for an upcoming bout with Jones, White confirmed that Lyoto Machida would be the backup fighter to contest Jones’ title.
