Vitor Belfort originally called for a bout with his adversary Wanderlei Silva, but instead Silva was given to Chris Leben at UFC 132. With Silva out of the picture, Belfort has now been given the challenger Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 133 according to Dana White on ESPN.
“Verbal agreements are in for a battle between two of the most exciting fighters in the middleweight division. Coming off three straight Fight of the Night performances, Yoshihiro Akiyama will take on former UFC light-heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort in Philadelphia.”
Both men will be looking to rebound with a victory as Belfort recently suffered a loss by the champion, Anderson Silva, and Okami losing a decision to Michael “The Count” Bisping.
