Oh it’s a sad day in the world of MMA! Kevin Ferguson aka Kimbo Slice, has reported to ESPNNewYork.com that he will be leaving MMA after nearly three years, and is trying his hand at boxing.
“I feel like a baby all over again,” said the 36-year-old Florida resident. “I’m thinking about this at night. I’m gonna be a problem in the heavyweight division. I’m going to be coming in with a bad demeanor. I want to see what it’s like to break some ribs, break a jaw with one punch.”
At Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, New York, promoter Gary Shaw reported recently to ESPN NY that he would soon be signing a deal with Kimbo. And after weeks of deliberation with Kimbo’s advisor Mike Imber, Shaw stated that he’d signed a deal with Slice and that he would debut late this year, depending on how well his training goes with Clemente Medina.
But fear not fans! Kimbo hasn’t shut MMA out of his life forever and appreciates the time he had with the UFC.
“This is a career move,” he said. “I love fighting. I like to knock people the f**k out. I love engaging. Maybe some people think I’m crazy.”
