Joe “Daddy” Stevenson (31-11) has verbally agreed to a fight against former Pride champion Takanori Gomi (31-6) today says MMAWeekly.com sources. The fight is slated to take place at UFC Versus 2, rumored in Salt Lake City, Utah on Aug. 1st.
Both lightweights have had some hard losses as of late and now look to climb back up the latter into title contention with a win.
Stevenson loss a unanimous decision back in February to Australian native George Sotiropoulos at UFC 110.
Gomi only weeks ago lost his UFC debut against Kenny “Kenflo” Florian on UFC Fight Night 21 by rear-naked choke in the third round.
Though these matches have not been confirmed by the UFC officially, the match-up makes sense and both camps have verbally agreed to the fight.
