Since his signing to the UFC last month, nothing has really become of former boxing champ James Toney. Renowned trainer, Freddie Roach, recently said that he feels the UFC is “just using” James Toney to make the sport look better.
“They’re just using him. They’re going to say their sport’s better than ours. Usually, if they fight an MMA fight, they’re going to win, and if they fight a boxing fight, we’re going to win. They’re two totally different sports. It’s something a 40-year-old guy just can’t learn, and in James’ case, it’ll be hard to learn.”
And even Dana White stated that he’s not completely sure why he signed Toney either, and admitted he doesn’t really know what to do with him.
“To be honest, I don’t know why I did it,” White said at a pre-UFC 111 press conference. “But we did it. I did this deal, and now I have to figure out what to do with him.”
So what do you UFC fans think? What should White do with Toney? Where should James go from here? Let us know what you think.
